Senate to discuss future of fishing industry

On the agenda for the Upper House is the Green Paper Marine Resources and the Fishing Industry in Bermuda, which will include a discussion of the fishpots' ban and the effect it had on fish stocks.

Also due to be discussed is the Census Amendment Regulations 2000, which gives an extra month for the compilation of data for the population survey. The Motor Car Amendment Act 2000 will also be discussed. It allows residents to put personalised number plates on their cars.

And the Merchant Shipping Amendment Act 2000, which enables authorities to keep a check on seamen on Bermuda-registered vessels, will be considered along with the Volunteer Liability Act 2000, which gives legal protection for Good Samaritans in the community.

The Bermuda Monetary Authority (Currency Forms and Designs, Etc) Validation Act 2000 is also on today's agenda.
