A Magistrate yesterday set bail at $25,000 bail with a like surety for a Devonshire man charged with allegedly importing cocaine believed to be worth an estimated $708,500.

Derrick Jomell Hewey, of Crown Hill Lane, appeared before Senior Magistrate Will Francis in a special court appearance yesterday afternoon, but was not required to enter a plea.

The 28-year-old father -- represented by lawyer Marc Telemaque -- faces charges of importing cocaine, possessing cocaine with intent to supply, and handling cocaine with intent to supply at the Airport on February 6.

A Jamaican man also appeared in court yesterday facing identical drug charges.

But the case against Clifton Hopeton Morisson, a self-employed worker from St.

Ann's Parish, is not connected to Hewey.

His lawyer Victoria Pearman made no bail application and Morrison was remanded in custody for two weeks when he is scheduled to return to court.

Both men are expected to be sent to the Supreme Court for trial.
