violators -- "if you don't respect this court, you're going to fear it!'' He jailed Stephen W. Bean of Crossfield Lane, Sandys for four months after he pleaded guilty to riding while disqualified. The maximum prison term is six months.

Bean's conviction was his eighth for the offence which prompted Mr. Warner's outburst.

Bean told the court he was a casual worker and suggested he had difficulty getting the money for a licence and insurance.

But Mr. Warner would have none of that and said: "Eight previous convictions for this. That's ridiculous! "Don't worry you won't have to worry about paying insurance for the next few months,'' he continued. "I fine you and disqualify you and you still ride.

"I tell you guys over and over that if you don't respect these courts, you're going to fear it. You have no respect for these courts or the penalties, even when custodial sentences are imposed.''
