Between January 1 and August 6, 240,038 visitors arrived, a 6.2 percent drop from the same period last year. Incorrect figures appeared in Wednesday's paper.

The number of visitors arriving in Bermuda this year continued to decline through last week.

Last year between January 1 and August 6, 256,026 visitors arrived on the Island by air compared to the 220,038 this year, a 6.2 percent difference.

For the week ending August 6, air arrivals dropped 8.5 percent to 10,327 compared to 11,287 in the same week a year ago.

However, cruise ship arrivals have remained above last year's figures by 6.1 percent with 100,548 arriving so far this year compared to 94,788 in 1994.

Last week, six cruise ships brought 7,804 passengers to the Island which was 1,323 more than the same week last year.

FALLING FAST -- Air visitor arrivals for the last 52 weeks have fallen to fewer than 400,000, the lowest point since March, 1993 when the tourism industry was starting a slow climb out of recession which peaked in September last year.
