Dominican Republic early yesterday morning.

The Lauda Airline 767 diverted to Bermuda yesterday after he began suffering seizures. Despite attempts by two passengers to resuscitate him, the man was dead by the time the plane landed at Bermuda International Airport at 3 a.m.

A Bermuda Police Service spokesman said the man's death was being treated as suspicious and an autopsy would be performed. The man's name is being withheld until his next of kin are notified.

The Austrian-based airliner had 206 passengers on board and was some 200 miles east of the Island when it sent out an emergency signal to the Island at about 2.15 a.m.

It had landed by 3 a.m. and was greeted by emergency response teams and an ambulance. The passengers remained on board the plane until it resumed its voyage at 6 a.m.

The dead man was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
