Cup Match MVP blasts critics
award for the second straight year last night, and took the opportunity to hit out at his critics, former Cup Match captains Dennis Wainwright and Randy Horton in particular.
Smith has received more criticism than praise for his knocks of 129 and 59 which made him the highest scorer in the history of Cup Match. Some said the century took too long and eliminated any chance of a victory. Smith's brother Clay also scored a century as they shared in a record second wicket stand of 220 on the first day.
Last night the St. George's and Bermuda captain let it be known he was clearly not happy at Wainwright's comments in a television interview on News and Views on Monday night nor at remarks Horton made during live radio commentary of the match. Smith's comments will appear in tomorrow's Royal Gazette .
The trophy was presented by Tourism Minister C.V. (Jim) Woolridge.
