Bermuda exchange inches upwards

trading on the Bermuda Exchange yesterday. The firm's common stock and its 9% preference shares each rose by 25 cents to $7.25 and $11.75, respectively.
Bermuda Press (Holdings) stock halted its dramatic slide of recent weeks and may well have bottomed out at $5.50, with 1,580 changing hands.
The highest volume of the day was the 2,128 Bermuda Electric Light Company shares which were traded.
Other company trades were: Bank of Bermuda, at $33.50, with a volume of 1,670; Bank of Bermuda eight percent preference, $11.50, 740; Bank of Butterfield, $20, 1,277; and Bermuda Telephone Company, $28, 135.
The total value of shares traded was $145,591. The Exchange Index rose by 0.11 to close at 800.96.
