compensation renewals from Commercial Insurance Services.

ACE Ltd and Superior National Insurance Group yesterday announced that ACE USA had sold the renewal rights to the California workers' compensation book of its Commercial Insurance Services businesses to Superior National.

The agreement follows an announcement by ACE last month to sell renewal rights to all other CIS business to Wausau Commercial Insurance, a unit of Liberty Mutual Group. These renewal agreements effectively complete ACE USA's decision to discontinue its middle market CIS business.

Under the agreement Superior National will supply ACE USA a three percent ceding fee on gross written premiums renewed from December 1 through June 30, 2002. The California book of business amounts to about $30 million in gross written premiums on an annual basis.

CONNORS APPOINTMENT APP BUC Connors appointment Bermuda-based Zurich Global Energy has announced that Peter Connors has been appointed their president and chief executive officer of its newly aligned energy business.

He will be in charge of both Zurich Global Energy and Zurich's energy operations in the US. He will be based in the company's New York office.

Mr. Connors has more than 20 years of experience in the energy insurance business, primarily with American International Group. He has moved from senior vice president of the AIU energy division to take up the post.
