Accountants Paul Hubbard and J. David Boden have won a lawsuit against Mr.

Hall while acting "as next friends of Betty Lorraine McMahon''.

Mr. Hall was ordered to pay the full amount that was filed in the writ -- $1,609,740.63 -- plus simple interest at seven percent by Chief Justice Austin Ward in an in chambers hearing.

Mr. Hubbard, well-known in Bermuda as a veteran yachtsman, and Mr. Boden are partners in the firm of chartered accountants, Deloitte and Touche.

The Royal Gazette understands they are receivers for the McMahon estate.

Previously, Mr. Hall has acted as Mrs. McMahon's lawyer.

Mrs. McMahon, widow of a Canadian industrialist, has been unavailable for comment. Mr. Hall was yesterday said to be off the Island.

Mr. Hubbard declined to throw light on the lawsuit as it was a matter involving a client.

Mrs. McMahon is the widow of Canadian millionaire Frank McMahon, who died in 1986 at his Harbour Road, Paget, home.

Mr. McMahon had lived in Bermuda for 13 years before dying in his sleep at age 83. He built Canada's first natural gas pipeline and his horse Majestic Prince won the Kentucky Derby in 1969.
