Police chief seeks assistance in tracking pyramid scheme
Police are seeking assistance from the public in their attempts to investigate an onslaught of pyramid schemes which has taken the Island by storm.
In a statement released yesterday, Police Commissioner Jean Jacques Lemay revealed that he has directed Acting Detective Supt. Carlton Adams to launch an investigation into the matter.
"I would encourage members of the public who can provide such evidence to contact our Commercial Crime Department at 299-4472,'' he said.
The Commissioner also warned that participants faced likely financial losses.
"These schemes are bound to fail and it is believed most participants will loose their money,'' he added. "Accordingly, the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions will consider prosecuting persons promoting such schemes, if the evidence is available.''
