Roof fall victim airlifted

A man who fell from the roof of a house summoned assistance with his mobile phone as he lay on the ground with head injuries.

And last night he was being treated in the Lahey Clinic, Boston, after being airlifted from Bermuda on Monday.

The victim, was working alone painting the roof of the St. Anne's Road home, at 1 p.m. on Monday, when he lost his footing and fell 20 feet to the ground.

He suffered a fractured skull and broken ankle in the fall, and lay motionless on the ground, but he managed to use his phone to alert the emergency services.

Police arrived to find the man, still conscious, but immobile. He was taken by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment and released yesterday.

The health inspector has been notified of the accident.
