New information books for Bermuda's hotels
decision to drop the former publishers of `Vacation Bermuda' in favour of Herald Custom Publishing (HCP), a subsidiary of Miami Herald Publishing.
`Experience Bermuda' will be the new name of the hard-covered information book found in most hotel rooms, which gives guests to the Island, valuable information on areas like shopping and dining.
But in addition to publishing the book, HCP will also provide valuable Internet and overseas print advertising. The effort is possible as HRC is a division of the Miami Herald Publishing Company who also own Knight Ridder newspapers.
"The BHA will receive newspaper advertising in any one of the 31 Knight Ridder newspapers (including the Miami Herald) of their choice totalling half the advertising revenue brought in by the publication,'' said John Harvey, executive director of the BHA.
"This is a significant contribution to exposing Bermuda as a destination to new markets,'' he added, "and it will also include exposure for our hotels and advertisers on ExperienceDestinations.com, where ExperienceBermuda.com will be hosted.
Publisher of HCP, Gary Duell said: "The enormous print exposure coupled with the online presence will clearly have a tremendous impact on creating awareness of the Bermuda product resulting in additional visitors to the Island.
"I am particularly excited to be working with the BHA to assist in increasing tourist arrivals through a powerful custom-tai-lored, integrated marketing and communications programme.'' BUSINESS BUC BOOKS BKS TOURISM PUBLICATIONS TOURIST NJ
