public awareness campaign to promote the international sector.

The $175,000 campaign will involve a new set of advertising, a ten-minute AV programme, and presentations at schools and community groups.

"The advertising is going to focus more on how international business relates to individuals and how it is linked into workers' lives,'' BIBA executive director Pat Phillip-Bassett said.

The campaign, now in its third year, is based on a survey conducted in 1994 by Market Facts of Canada in 1994. Ms Phillip-Bassett said the research revealed many people felt unconnected to international business. The campaign is aimed to show how the international sector is linked to Bermuda's economy. About 13,000 jobs are directly or indirectly dependent on the sector.

The campaign also aims at showing young people what kind of jobs are available in the sector and how they might develop their skills for a position on one of the companies.
