(left) and Ms Carol-Ann Simmons present letters outlining human rights violations in the central African nation of Burundi to Governor Lord Waddington yesterday. The Governor pledged to forward the letters, which were signed by concerned Bermudians at the City Hall celebrations marking South African President Nelson Mandela's inauguration three weeks ago, to British Foreign Secretary Mr. Douglas Hurd. Burundi has suffered the same type of ethnic violence as its southern neighbour Rwanda recently. According to Amnesty, up to 100,000 were murdered there by the end of 1993.
