Business conference attracts hundreds

conference that began on Sunday, and has attracted hundreds of participants, that accommodation has had to be shared among several Bermuda hotels.

Between 1,100 and 1,200 professionals from the world's leading financial institutions are in Bermuda for the Third Annual ABS EAST and the Third Annual Investors' & Issuers' Summit on Asset Securitization: Examining Opportunities in the Public & Private Markets.

One of the executive summit benefactors and conference exhibitors is newly-capitalised, Bermuda-based CGA Group Ltd., which formed subsidiary, Commercial Guaranty Assurance, Ltd.

CGA provides financial guaranty insurance of structured securities, including commercial real estate and private asset backed securities.

Bermuda-based insurer, ACE Ltd., has an 11 percent equity stake in CGA, which impressed Duff & Phelps Credit Rating Agency enough to become Bermuda's first AAA (Triple A) rated financial guaranty insurance company.

Organisers of the conference said they will be happy to hold the event in Bermuda every year, and are already planning on next year.

The conference centre is the Marriott Castle Harbour Resort in Tucker's Town, although the delegates to the conference, which ends tomorrow, are split up into various hotels.

Presented by Frank J. Fabozzi Associates and New York-based Information Management Network (IMN), and sponsored by some 70 top financial organisations, the conference is presenting a state-of-the-art perspective on asset securitisation.
