The evening gets underway at 7 p.m., and will provide an opportunity to share memories .

The event is in honour of the 150th anniversary of Portuguese settlement in Bermuda.

*** The Bermuda National Trust will host its annual Christmas Walkabout in St.

George's this Friday from 6.30 to 8.30 p.m.

The old town of St. George's will shimmer with festive colour and spirit and the sounds of the season will fill the air.

*** Bermuda's finest artists, crafts people and authors join forces this weekend to host Home-Grown Alternatives.

The `shop til you drop' pre-Christmas extravaganza will take place on Saturday at St. Paul's Church Hall in Paget and will feature only locally-made products.

The 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. event will also feature original music and live performance by `Shine' Hayward.

*** The Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo will host their annual Christmas party this weekend.

The festivities will get underway at 11 a.m. and will feature games, crafts, activities and of course Santa.

Admission to the Christmas party is free for BZS members. Regular admission will be charged for non-members.

Festivities will wrap-up at 4 p.m.

*** The local enviro-cultural group, Rock Ramblers will be holding their last ramble of the 20th century this weekend.

Sunday's open ended, informal ramble /picnic will begin in the parking lot at Fort Scaur in Somerset at 9.30 a.m. Participants should arrive no later than 9.15 a.m.

The 3-4 mile route will take adventurers along the Great Sound Trail, Somerset's back roads and than back to Fort Scaur for a casual picnic.

Participants should wear functional walking footwear and bring snack foods, beverages and small garbage bags for trash en route.

Each ramble benefits a different environmental /cultural /service organisation and this month's recipient is the Salvation Army Christmas Hamper programme.

A voluntary suggested contribution of $3 per rambler or a can of food will be gratefully accepted.
