Angry parents accompanying their children to Saturday night's Beenie Man concert complained that marijuana and alcohol was being used openly at the show.

An irate couple, who did not wish to be identified, wrote a letter to The Royal Gazette accusing promoters of catering to children to line their pockets.

US-based Phaze One Entertainment offered a special ticket deal to children 12 and under accompanied by an adult.

But the parents said promoters should not have invited an under-age audience if they expected drug or alcohol abuse.

"We could not believe our eyes when we saw marijuana and alcohol being used by children and adults,'' the couple said.

"Why would the promoters of this concert invite children knowing that this kind of demoralised behaviour has been going on at these kinds of events? "What happened to the security? Why weren't they moving around the grounds? Why wasn't there some type of Police presence to deter this behaviour?'' they asked.

But one of the promoters said: "We had close to 3,000 people and the show was flawless -- there was not a single fight.'' "We try to limit (marijuana use) because we're a clean-cut company and we're not part of that negative stuff. But we wanted to do something for the kids.

Regardless of where they go in life, they're going to see (marijuana use).

"We apologise as the promoting company, but we had no control over that -- we hired adequate security and that's what we pay them for.''
