Lord Wedgewood was on the Island to present the Heritage Trophy for the best sportsman in the Omega Cup yachting competition. But he was also invited to Bluck's and A.S. Cooper and Sons to sign purchases of Wedgewood items. Lord Wedgewood is a seventh generation descendant of the "inventor'' of Wedgewood Pottery, Josia Wedgwood, who started his business in 1759. Mr. Peter Cooper said: "We invited Lord Wedgewood to the store so that he could meet our customers. He was having a great time talking to people who were buying the pottery. There was a very big queue of people who wanted to speak to him.''
