combat the problem of littering in Bermuda's parks.

This was the message from the Senior Superintendent of the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, Martin Brown, who called on the public to clean up once they were done using a park.

Mr. Brown said yesterday that many of the other superintendents who inspect the parks have become fed up over the amount of trash and debris left behind by users.

"The big problem is that there is littering in parks and people are not picking up after themselves.'' said Mr. Brown.

He added that a major concern was that summer day camps might cause the amount of trash left behind in parks to escalate.

He said: "When they come through us to use the parks I would be happy to give them large trash bags.'' He also suggested that the camps could lend the Parks Services a hand by picking up the trash in every park they attend.

Mr. Brown added that, due to cut backs in the money that the Department received from Government, it was not able to collect as much trash as it would have normally done, so it was up to everyone in the community to make sure that trash went in the trash bins.
