Bosnia have been surpassed.

A fourth container to be loaded this year is now being prepared to carry food, clothing and medical supplies.

The 1994 effort passed the previous year's last night when the third container neared capacity.

One of the appeal organisers, Mrs. Sallie Singleton, said it seemed that "the whole community'' had come out to support the appeal for the war victims.

"The third container is almost full,'' she said. "There has been a steady stream of people bringing in goods.

"We have had donations from people in the small grocers on Parsons Road to the largest stores. The major hotels and guest houses are going to donate bed linen and an eight-year-old girl brought along her savings.

"The media has been a tremendous help by publishing reports on the television, radio and in The Royal Gazette .

"When we said today that we had changed the message from clothing to food and aspirins people brought along food and aspirins.'' As a result of yesterday's efforts, St. Patrick's Parish Family have agreed to pay for the fourth container and challenged Bermudians to fill that also.

The four containers are expected to be shipped to the town of Split next week and then carried by truck to the worst-hit areas.
