Robert Driscoll, of New York City, yesterday pleaded guilty to importing 14.9 grams of cannabis.
Prosecutor Sgt. Phillip Taylor told the court that Driscoll arrived on a Continental flight into Bermuda on June 19.
When officials searched his luggage, they discovered a plastic bag containing plant material.
Senior Magistrate Will Francis yesterday asked Driscoll if he had anything to say to the court.
He replied:"I apologise, it was pretty stupid of me to bring it in. But I was bringing it for my friend's wedding.'' Mr. Francis told Driscoll there were other things that he could have purchased for his friend as a wedding gift and then handed down the $1,000 fine.
