Put the Parent in PTA

whole family. She and her husband Philip are active members of the West Pembroke School's PTA where Philip Jr. is enrolled.

The family has collected so many ceritificates of participation and awards that they need a separate notice board at home to pin them on! Mrs. Dyer keeps copies of the school calendar on a notice board at home in her office and she has a reduced version in her diary.

"It was such a privilege and a blessing for me when I committed myself to become an executive member of the school's PTA,'' said Mrs. Dyer. "Keeping the school's voice mail updated with the calendar of events was so much fun.'' The whole family gets involved in school events -- even 93-year-old grandfather Henry Dyer received a certificate of participation when West Pembroke won prizes for best primary school float and most original float in the May 24 Parade.

Family commitment to education pays off as well -- Mr. Dyer recently received a certificate of participation from the Community Education and Development programme -- and Mr. and Mrs. Dyer's elder son Maurice graduated with a diploma in computer technology from the Atlanta Technical Institute this year.
