St. George's stamps to be launched
Post Office next month.
A commemorative set of six stamps will be launched on May 1 to celebrate the Old Town being awarded the accolade by the United Nations.
The set contains some of the most memorable buildings from the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.
Last year the Old Town and its surrounding fortifications were granted World Heritage Status from the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).
The Princess Royal, Princess Anne, will formally receive the World Heritage Status plaque from UNESCO on Thursday.
The stamps show King's Castle Fort, Bridge House, Whitehall, Fort Cunningham, a view of St. Peter's Church from Pilot Darrell's Square, and Tucker House and Water Street.
The stamp set has been launched in conjunction with the St. George's Foundation.
Images of two of the new stamps are shown with this article.
