General Election candidate Scott Simmons has been elected the Progressive Labour Party's party's public relations officer.

The selection was made on Tuesday, the second night of the party's annual delegate's conference.

The delegates also voted in Linda Merritt as secretary general, Sinclair Williams and Cheryl Wade as assistant secretary general, Sandi Gilbert as treasurer, David Augustus as party organiser and Nietra Dill as assistant party organiser.

Mr. Simmons, a former policeman, ran against Trevor Moniz to represent Smith's West in the July 24 vote.

He replaces Glenn Blakeney as public relations officer. Mr. Blakeney succeeded in his bid to enter parliament and will sit as the representative for Devonshire North Central, or district 13.
