Mayor's son charged The son of the Mayor of St. George's was charged yesterday in Magistrates' Court with unlawfully entering his father's home on Saturday
John Hayward, 31, of no fixed abode, pleaded not guilty to breaking into Henry Hayward's residence on Tranquillity Lane in St. George's.
He also denied that he broke louvred windows at the home valued at $60.
Hayward was also charged with breaking and entering two other homes in St.
George's on the same evening.
He pleaded not guilty to breaking into the home of David Chew on St. David's Road and stealing food.
And he pleaded not guilty to breaking and entering the home of Andrew Exel.
Police prosecutor Sgt. Phil Taylor told the court he objected to bail for Hayward as he was likely to strike again since he had a dependency on both legal and illegal substances and without a place to stay.
Magistrate Edward King agreed to remand him in custody and said: "We have to protect him from himself and we have to protect the public from him''.
He scheduled Hayward's trial for October 8.
