Commissioner Edward Dyer yesterday said he was "asking the same kinds of questions'' as The Royal Gazette about the sighting.

It is understood the man is in prison for a serious offence and was being held at the medium security Prison Farm in St. George's.

Police are investigating an alleged assault at the Anchorage Nightclub in the early hours of Friday morning but there have been no arrests.

"The situation is that I'm still asking the same kinds of questions that you are,'' Mr. Dyer said. "I have no confirmation of it.'' He added: "As for discipline, if he was out and we get some validation, we will get disciplinary procedures into play. We've got the proper people investigating the alleged incident.''
