The call came after a 15-year-old girl, who was stabbed by another teenager, unsuccessfully tried to treat her injuries last week.

Police said the incident took place in St. David's last week following a fight between the two girls.

The victim initially treated herself, Police said. But the following day she attended a clinic for further treatment.

Noting that they learned of the incident two days later, Police strongly advised stab wound victims not to treat themselves.

"There is always a danger of infection and the possibility of unknown internal injuries,'' Police spokesman P.c. Gary Venning said.

"These types of injury should be treated at the earliest opportunity by properly trained medical staff.'' Police were also looking into a report of assault by a 43-year-old St.

George's man.

The man said he was knocked unconscious on Sunday afternoon and suffered a split lip when he was headbutted in the face after an argument with another man.

The alleged incident occurred around 12.15 p.m. at King's Square when the two men were believed to have been arguing over some damage to the victim's cycle.
