Man refused to leave restaurant
ordered to do so by Police because of offensive behaviour, was fined $200 yesterday.
Bruce McClarron of Southampton, admitted the offence, describing it as "out of character'' for him.
Police prosecutor Sgt. Wilbert McLean said the restaurant's maitre d' asked McClarron to leave the premises on April 17 because of his behaviour.
"He was being offensive and disruptive and was escorted to the entrance hall,'' said Sgt. McLean.
He said McClarron's behaviour became even worse and he tried to push past the maitre d' to get to the bar area. The maitre d' was able to keep McClarron out of the bar area but was unable to eject him from the premises.
At 11.52 p.m., Police attended the premises at the request of the maitre d' and informed McClarron he had to leave.
He refused and swore at the officers as they attempted to remove him.
Sgt. McLean said McClarron had no previous offences of a similar nature.
Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined McClarron $100 for offensive behaviour and $100 for refusing to leave the premises.
