Steede leads Island pack
Marathon as he was the only local athlete to dip under the three hour barrier.
Just a week after completing the Paris Marathon, Steede finished yesterday's race in two hours, 59 minutes and 55 seconds. That was more than five minutes faster than a week ago when he was clocked in 3:05.40 for the Paris event.
Next in for Bermuda was veteran Harry Patchett who finished in 3:02.57 while his wife Lynn was the fastest of the local women, finishing in 3:27.02.
Other Bermuda runners included Vernon Tankard (3:15.18), Robert Jones (3:20.44), Joseph Froncioni (3:35.59), Rosemary Jones (3:37.07), Roddy Bassett (3:40.25) and Graham Fowle (4:04.16). No times were available for Ernest Dunphy, Jeremy Peele, George Shaw or Claire Cove.
In Sunday's London Marathon, Bermuda runners Val Platt and Jan Shaw finished in 3:57.05 and 5:10.58 respectively.
