Court administrator Tracy Kelly said that Magistrates' Court had recorded $350,000 in outstanding unpaid parking fines.

Meanwhile, criminal fines racked up a total of $250,000 while other traffic-related offences totalled $698,933.

The grand total for outstanding fines between April 1996 and March of this year added up to some $1,293,933.

But Mr. Kelly said the numbers were close to what they have been for the last few years.

He said Police warrants were normally issued to bring delinquent Bermudians before the courts to force them to pay the fines.

Mr. Kelly added only Magistrates could make people to pay their penalties at the time they are fined.

Senior Magistrate Will Francis could not be reached for comment.
