Students and college talk on exam venue
their concerns regarding new examination arrangements.
Students have circulated a petition voicing their concerns that exams which are due to take place at the end of the month will be held in the College gymnasium and the North Hall lecture theatre, instead of the classrooms.
The reasoning behind the change, according to a press release issued by the College is that the move would help "prepare students, who will be transferring overseas to become accustomed to large testing venues which are generally the norm at overseas colleges and universities''.
The students' petition expressed concern at the timing of the decision.
According to the College, the petition was signed by about 130 of the 600 students.
Said Dean Roy Wright : "We understand that the new testing arrangement may initially be overwhelming for some students, but we felt it was important for students to have a similar experience here in familiar surroundings.
"However, there are obviously concerns and we will consider them.''
