Cable &Wireless is funding an upgrade of the Warwick Academy's computers and offering work experience for students.

The telecommunications giant is providing new servers as the school plans to go on-line for parents.

Maintenance will be minimised as the individual stations become virtually monitors only with the new powerful software.

Students doing GSCEs and international baccalaureate studies will do research work for the company which will contribute to grades.

Warwick Academy headmaster Robert Lennox said: "Realism will be injected into the information technology curriculum.

"It adds meaning and value to the pupils' work. I have undertaken this kind of work in UK schools and found it be of great value. This is a win, win situation."
