British Prime Minister Tony Blair is scheduled to join his wife Cherie and children on the Island this week for an Easter holiday.

It will be the first time the Prime Minister has visited Bermuda, although it will be the fourth trip to the Island in two years for Mrs. Blair.

It is understood the Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive tomorrow evening from London, although neither Downing Street nor Government House would confirm his travel plans.

Mrs. Blair flew in last night from London and the family will be staying at Government House.

Deputy Governor Nick Carter said "no comment" yesterday when asked about the visit.

And a Downing Street spokeswoman said: "We are not confirming any travel plans for the Prime Minister.

"We never confirm them in advance ? no more than two days before."

It is understood Mr. Blair has no official engagements scheduled for his visit and will spend the holiday relaxing with his family.

Although Mr. Blair has never visited Bermuda, it was reported that he proposed meeting US President George W. Bush and other coalition leaders here last March for a summit on the eve of the invasion of Iraq.

The decisive last minute meeting eventually took place in the Azores.
