Beginning on Monday hundred of residents are expected to line up to subscribe to the Island?s new cable television service, World on Wireless.

Company director Troy Symonds said the initial offerings will be for 85 channels for $68.

Customers will also have to purchase a set top box to gain access to the programming.

He described the launch as a soft rollout ? without a heavy marketing effort.

?We?re not having a formal ribbon cutting or anything like that, we?re just focusing on getting customers operational because customers have already waited long enough. We have a few thousand set top boxes that will satisfy the initial demand and then we will continue on satisfying customers. So we finally have everything ready and we are able to do it now.?

Two types of set top boxes are on offer ? a regular set top box and a personal video recorder (PVR) required for additional services such as pausing a programme in progress for later viewing and taping one show while watching another.

?It will deliver real value,? Mr. Symonds said of the PVR.

?It?s for people who really, really enjoy and want great value from their television experience. It?s a real cutting- edge piece of equipment. But I suspect most people will just want the basics.?

He said the company had steered away from hyping its services because there were already a ?few thousand? people who had expressed an interest and all energies were being spent on taking care of them.

?Our interest has to be satisfying those people ? taking care of those customers have to be our priority,? he said.

?They are going to be demanding and we have to be ready for it.?

Asked for three reasons why people should subscribe to WoW, he said: ?Quality, cost, customer service.?
