As a result of this, her road safety post was advertised in the Official Gazette last Friday.

The $50,000 post includes: Educating the motoring public and particularly primary and secondary students; Advertising and promotion of road safety in all media and to various groups and organisations; and Administering the affairs of the Road Safety Council, including the preparation of statistical reports and budget control.

The deadline for applying to the post, which will end on March 31, 1998, is August 21.

MAN DENIES THEFT CTS Man denies theft A Pembroke man yesterday denied stealing a wallet and possessing a knife to use as a weapon.

Albert Allen, 30, of Parsons Road, pleaded not guilty in Magistrates' Court to both of the charges which stemmed from an incident on May 17 in Pembroke.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Kenrick James said four people were expected to testify as witnesses for the prosecution.

Senior Magistrate Wil Francis granted Allen bail for $500 with one like surety and set November 14 as the trial date.

TEEN CHARGED CTS Teen charged A 17-year-old yesterday appeared in Magistrates' Court for allegedly riding while impaired on Barry Road, St. George's on June 23.

Garvin Francis, of Claytown, Bailey's Bay denied the charge.

Francis also denied riding the motorbike while it was uninsured and unlicensed and driving while disqualified due to age.

Senior Magistrate Will Francis released Francis on a $500 bail with one like surety and ordered him to return to court for trial on November 14.

BREAK-INS PROBED CTS Break-ins probed Police received reports of four break-ins and an attempted break-in on Sunday.

At the West End of the Island, thieves broke into a shed at Daniel's Head and stole property which was later returned.

A West End school was also burgled and a soda machine was attacked.

Meanwhile, in the central parishes thieves stole a mountain bike from a South Shore hotel storage shed. And property at a South Shore Road restaurant was damaged after thieves were unable to find money.

The attempted break-in occurred at a Prospect, Devonshire residence on Sunday afternoon. The thief or thieves took a packet of cigarettes and a lighter.
