multi-purpose youth centre which will be able to hold 350-500 children at a time.

An old house on the Mission Road, Paget property will be demolished to make way for the new building.

The church has submitted its plans to the Development Applications Board and are waiting for permission to start construction on the building which has an estimated cost of $1.2 million to $1.7 million.

Every Friday evening, the church overflows with more than 100 young people.

They fill the church facilities to capacity. The old house is also used, but space is still limited and the church must turn away children, said building committee chairman Mr. Jimmy Madeiros.

"Parents call us and ask us to take their children into the programme but there is not enough room to house all of the children'' said Mr. Madeiros.

The Evangelical Church's programme involves helping children to develop religiously and secularly. The children are also taught to be responsible for their actions.

The church also hopes to turn the centre into a full-time operation.
