Man fined $300 for possessing drugs
Court yesterday.
Joseph F. Moniz, of Granaway Heights, admitted the charge.
Prosecuting, Sgt. Donald Grant told the court Police spotted Moniz riding an auxiliary cycle on Middle Road in Paget and arrested him on another matter.
"The officers impounded his bike while he was at the station and noticed that Moniz seemed nervous about the bike's whereabouts,'' Sgt. Grant said.
He said Moniz admitted there was cannabis hidden in the bike's glove compartment. The cycle was searched and 1.23 grams of cannabis was seized.

The incident occurred last Friday afternoon on Elliott Street, in Pembroke.
Narcotics officers observed a street transaction between the man and others, Police said. They later arrested the man for possession with intent to supply of an "appreciable amount of suspected controlled drugs.'' Police did not give the name of the drugs. Inquiries were continuing.

The warning came after they received four separate reports of thefts from unattended cars over the weekend.
Three of thefts happened within the same period and area.
