Shadow Environment Minister Leon (Jimmy) Williams told the House of Assembly.

Mr. Williams, speaking during yesterday's Environment budget debate, also said a new programme was needed to encourage more people to use public transport.

He added: "It's vital that we encourage more Bermudians to use public transport. I believe that's the way to go.

"A tunnel at the West End of the Island also ought to be considered to solve the traffic problem,'' he said.

"In fact, we should look around the whole of the Island to see if we can build things like tunnels.

"There are tunnels in New York and London which have exactly the same effect and if we are looking to the future, these are the areas we should be investigating.'' Leon (Jimmy) Williams
