Bay step up title drive

field, but they never seriously looked like getting the runs after Glenn Smith ripped them apart with seven for 29 from 14.3 overs.

So Bay have now taken over second place from Willow Cuts who were beaten by Police and are only seven points behind leaders Western Stars, held to a draw by Cleveland.

Supporting Smith in the bowling was Dennis Pilgrim who claimed three for one from four overs.

Earlier Pilgrim, batting at number five, was high man for Bay with 27 as captain Chris Smith chipped in with 21, Cal Dill 19, Glenn Smith 17, Charlie Marshall 15 and Kerry Tucker 14.

Spinner Desmond Smith returned his best figures of the season of six for 68 from 14.4 overs while Cecil Tucker, sharing the new ball with Roddy Thompson, supported with three for 66 off 14 overs.
