sending condolences to late architect Mr. Maurice Terceira's family.

Mr. Terceira who died on Sunday, was the president of Terceira and Leitner Associates.

Sir John described Mr. Terceira, who was also known as "Tessie'', "as one of the great Bermuda architects''.

He was past president or chairman of the Architecture Registration Board, the Hamilton Lions Club and the Equestrian Association.

Mr. Terceira was also an architectural advisor to the Bermuda National Trust for 12 years.

Sir John said Mr. Terceira was also an officer at the Emmanuel Methodist Church and received an MBE in 1987 for his selfless service to the community.

"This society will be worst off as a result of his loss,'' Sir John said.

Mr. Reginald Burrows said Mr. Terceira was a lifetime resident of Southampton West, who moved to Southampton East.

"I have known him almost all my life,'' Mr. Burrows said.

Tourism Minister the Hon. C.V. (Jim) Woolridge said Mr. Terceira was instrumental in the Lions Club project that gave a young lady an eye transplant.

Mr. Woolridge also sent congratulations to Garth Pedro-Peters of the Department of Tourism's Atlanta office, for an award he received for his work with travel agents.

Mrs. Grace Bell asked the House to send congratulations to the St. David's Guild which had a special service celebrating its 57th anniversary.

Mr. Leon (Jimmy) Williams lauded Mr. Leon Edmead for producing a fine evening of poetry and song at Bethel AME Church.

Management Minister the Hon. Grant Gibbons praised the Telford Electric company for organising the Telford Mile that attracted 500 children.
