from the Bermuda Regiment found himself with a $3,600 fine and a three-year driving ban after he appeared at Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Kavone Earl Smith, 20, of Horseshoe Bay Road, Warwick, appeared in court initially for knowingly receiving the stolen Sanyo television in May of this year.

However Magistrate Edward King brought up six previous traffic offences which dated back to last year and the start of this year which Smith had failed to appear in court for.

The traffic charges consisted of two offences of riding an uninsured motorcycle and one offence each of speeding at 86 kilometres per hour, having no driver's licence, having no third party insurance and riding an unlicensed bike.

He received total fines of $3,600, payable within two months, and was banned from all cycles for three years for the speeding offence.

Mr. King said: "Imagine you hitting someone's child at 86 kilometres per hour and without insurance.'' Smith pleaded not guilty to knowingly receiving the stolen television and was ordered to appear back at Magistrates' Court for trial on August 24. He was released on $750 bail.
