EDI Council plans series of seminars

planning a series of information sessions to educate Bermudians to the practical application of EDI in their particular industry.

The plan emerged after their EDI seminar earlier this month attracted close to 130 people, including representatives from US food giant, Nabisco, and representatives from the US Department of Defence.

"We are a core action group and our first one was a big one, an overall programme,'' said spokesman Mr. Horst Finkbeiner. "But now we are discussing spotlights on an issue or on an industry and are getting a knowledgeable local speaker or even bring one in from overseas.'' Chamber executive vice president Ms Carolyn Mello said: "The participants learned how Electronic Data Interchange is being used by many industries around the world. There are 56,000 companies using EDI in the US alone, with an expected growth of over 25 percent next year. There are clear implications for Bermudian companies that compete in the global marketplace.''
