Christopher Shabazz Robinson, of Frith's Estate, was ordered by Magistrate Cheryl-Ann Mapp on May 27 to pay the amount.

But Robinson had only paid $650 worth by the deadline yesterday.

And when he asked Magistrate Edward King for more time to pay the remaining $350, Mr. King said he was "not impressed''.

"We have to pay the men in blue every time someone doesn't show up to court,'' he told Robinson.

"You will be sent to jail for the balance of the money which according to my math, is nine days.'' At that point Robinson tried to storm out of the courtroom, shouting: "Give me back my money and send me to jail, then.'' "I have a new baby, and I haven't even been eating properly to pay the court the money,'' he added.

"I'm doing my best to live a decent, normal life ... I'm making an effort.

Can't you please just give me a little more time?''.

After warning Robinson about his behaviour, Mr. King gave him until July 18 to pay the $350 balance.
