Mr. Furtado arrived from the Azores in 1962 to work as a groundsman on the Castle Harbour golf course and has been responsible for keeping the hotel grounds and flowerbeds in superb condition.

He is just one out of 11 staff members who have put in 25 years at the property. And he had a perfect attendance record in 1993.

Marriott's director of catering, Mr. Chris Heslop, and catering and conventions manager, Ms Christine Mikelcic, have been designated by the Convention Liaison Council as certified meeting professionals, the highest professional standard in the meetings industry. It is awarded to meeting professionals for having met high standards of proficiency in meeting management.
