Puisne Justice Norma Wade-Miller stopped the trial of Clifton Hopeton Morrison after hearing a member of the jury had been excused jury duty from April 3.

The trial had been delayed several times because of family bereavements and was expected to have begun some time earlier.

Morrison, of St. Ann's Parish, Jamaica, could have elected to have had an 11 person jury but is within his rights to insist on having 12 jurors.

Mrs. Justice Wade-Miller told the jurors to return on Monday when a new jury will be empanelled.

Morrison was jailed for 12 years last June on charges of importation of cocaine and possession with intent to supply.

But his conviction was quashed at the Court of Appeal and a retrial ordered after it was found Mrs. Justice Wade-Miller "misdirected'' the jury.

POTS SEIZED CRM FHP Pots seized Police have seized a substantial quantity of fishpots as part of a continuing investigation into the use of illegal pots.

A Police spokesman yesterday said the large traps were recovered at Argus Banks on Sunday, during a joint operation between Marine Police and Fisheries staff.
