carnal knowledge with a girl under the age of 16.

Kamal Jamal Trott of Kitty's Lane, Hamilton Parish admitted having sex with the minor after the girl's mother complained to Police.

He told Police that although other people said she was under 16, he had seen her several times at the Spinning Wheel nightclub.

Acting Senior Magistrate the Wor. Edward King told Trott to "ask for the birth certificate next time... and don't take things at face value'' before sentencing the man to six months imprisonment which was suspended for two years.

Trott had been remanded in custody on September 18 after being charged with unlawfully wounding Police officer Sgt. Ron Beech.
