A St. David's man yesterday elected a Supreme Court trial after pleading not guilty to importing more than $100,000 worth of cannabis.

David Anthony Ray, 30, of Texas Road, also denied possessing cannabis with intent to supply, importing cannabis resin, and possessing cannabis resin with intent to supply.

Prosecutor Sgt. Phil Taylor told Magistrates' Court that Ray was caught with approximately 1,838 grams of cannabis and 262 grams of cannabis resin at the Airport on August 11.

Sgt. Taylor added that the street value of the cannabis totaled some $105,000.

Magistrate Edward King ordered Ray to return to court for mention on January 7, 1998.

And he granted Ray bail in the sum of $20,000 with two like sureties, provided that he surrender all travel documents and report to the St. George's Police Station three times a week.
