bank shares helping the Index recoup most of its losses from Tuesday.

The Index closed up 3.18 shares at 1164.55 in busy trading.

Bank of Bermuda shares regained the $1 they lost on Tuesday to close at $23 on volume of 506 shares while Commercial Bank reached a new high of $10.25 as it jumped 25 cents on volume of 400.

Also increasing was Bermuda Aviation Services Ltd. which equalled its high for the year when 500 shares traded at $3.50, up 3 .

Bermuda Press shares were the only ones to decline, dropping 25 cents to close at $9.50 on volume of 250.

Trading unchanged were Bank of Butterfield, 2,772 shares at $28 and Bank of Bermuda 9 percent notes -- 1,480 units at 107 5 .
