Sports-minded kids can work on soccer skills
two-week soccer clinic provided by the North Village Community Club.
The camp will be held at Bernard Park from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for two weeks in August, according to club sports chairman Mr. Shervin Dill.
Boys and girls will learn the techniques and basic fundamentals of soccer.
They will also play mini-matches against each other, noted Mr. Dill.
Approximately 40 kids will be accepted to the clinic, he said, adding that they should apply through the sports committee by the beginning of August.
The North Village Community Club's entertainment committee will also host their annual one-week summer camp this year at the end of August.
One hundred children, aged five to 16, will camp on Darrell's Island, where they will learn the basics of surviving outdoors.
A dozen counsellors will show the kids how to fish, play soccer and cricket.
As well, they will learn how to cook outdoors, said Mr. Dill.
"Children will play games and participate in a variety of activities. It's a fun camp,'' he said. "And it's very popular -- the kids generally love it -- so apply early. It fills up fast.''
