blamed yesterday for throwing more than a third of the Island into darkness on Tuesday, Belco said yesterday.
The failure knocked out power from St. George's to parts of Southampton for a several hours.
Electricity was restored in most areas before 11 p.m. on Tuesday.
Yesterday, Belco spokesman Ms Linda Smith said the cable, which runs between Belco's Prospect and Flatts substations, was still out of service.
But customers are now receiving power from an alternative feed.
"Our underground system has two alternate feeds for each customer enabling us to re-route the power supply and restore electricity which is what we did last night,'' she said.
